Ewen Ferguson Captures Maiden DP World Tour Victory

 

Ewen Ferguson today captured his maiden DP World Tour Victory in his debut season on the DP WORLD Tour.

Rounds of 67, 71, 73 left Ferguson in the frame moving into Sunday, where he started 3 shots off the pace-In tough scoring conditions, Ferguson recorded 14 pars, and then came to life with an Eagle on 16, followed by a birdie on 18 signing for a -2 under par 70, and tournament total of -7, to win by 1.

Ewen enjoyed a great 2021 season on the challenge tour, with three runner-up finishes along with three other top 10’s to finish the season at number 8 on the Road to Mallorca Challenge Tour Rankings, and in turn earning his Full DP World Tour status for 2022.

Following his victory on Sunday, Ferguson outlined “years and years of hard work” and that it is a “dream come true” to bring home his first victory. 

“"I just can't believe it at all. Years and years of hard work, My mum, dad, sister and brother and all my family gave me everything to try and get to this moment and it's an absolute dream come true. I think I've been in contention enough now on the Challenge Tour and out here at the start of this year a little bit, and I just managed to deal with it today- I'm obviously a winner now - it's incredible”

Ferguson became the third Scot to win the title, after Andrew Coltart claimed victory in 1998 and two-time champion Paul Lawrie, who won in 1999 and 2012.
