Modest Golf continue support of England Golf
England’s leading juniors are ready to battle it out for the title of English Under 18 champion in the second staging of the innovative championship brilliantly supported by Modest Golf Management.
Following the success of last year’s inaugural event at Farnham Golf Club, the stars of tomorrow will compete at Woodhall Spa Golf Club from 24-26 June for the right to follow in the footsteps of Walsall’s Jenson Forrester and be crowned 2022 champion.
England Golf will provide extensive coverage of the event on its website and social channels.

A year ago, Forrester saw off the challenge from Lottie Woad to win the 54-hole stroke play event at Farnham and write his name in the history books as the winner of England Golf’s first-ever mixed championship.
The event sees boys and girls, playing from adjusted tee sets, competing against each other for the one trophy over three rounds on the world-renowned Hotchkin Course – with an extra special incentive provided by our colleagues at Modest Golf.
Modest - owned by musician and golf enthusiast Niall Horan – is a company passionate about backing junior golf in all its forms and is committed to widening opportunities to new and younger audiences.
The English Under 18 Championship aligns perfectly with ideas on inclusivity and diversity enshrined in the long-term strategies of both England Golf and Modest Golf Management.
This year, once again, the leading boy and girl player in the event will be offered the chance to take part in a future Challenge Tour or LET event.
As leading girl in the 2021 championship, England girls’ squad member Woad has already been able to enjoy the fabulous experience of competing at this year’s Madrid Open on the LET.
More than that, Woad fully grasped the opportunity to finish in a tie for 13th and prove her ability on a professional stage against some of the world’s leading stars.
“It’s brilliant to watch the next generation of golfers compete against each other in this mixed championship,” said Horan ahead of the 2022 event.
“At Modest, we’re all about providing more opportunities for boys and girls to develop their skills and to help them to realise their full potential.
“That’s why providing an added incentive for the competitors at the English Under 18 Championship gives us such a buzz.
“As Jenson showed by winning last year and Lottie went on to prove with her amazing performance in Madrid, if you provide young people with the chance to shine, they grab it with both hands.”
Speaking after her fantastic showing in Spain, Woad said: “I must say a huge thank you to Modest for working with England Golf to offer me this amazing opportunity.
“I’m obviously very proud to finish where I did with four rounds under par, but I enjoyed the whole event from start to finish and can take so much away from the week beyond the score.”
